This Cranberry Gin Cocktail is a twist on the classic gin and tonic. Add a shot of cranberry juice to make this festive Christmas morning cocktail.
Cranberry Gin Cocktail for Christmas Morning
I’ve been in full holiday mode lately! Thanksgiving brunch and Christmas brunch are one of my absolute favorite meals.
As such, I’ve been thinking a lot about the menu to serve. Today I want to share with you a cranberry gin cocktail that I made this week.
Make this Cranberry Gin Cocktail Special
This is a twist on the classic gin and tonic.
To make it more festive, I add in a shot of cranberry juice and 2 slices of clementines.
It’s really a simple recipe. However there are a couple tricks that make this a special drink to serve.
Use Ice Balls for a Fun Christmas Cocktail
I love using ice balls for cocktails and mocktails. It’s one of those little things that make drinks a lot more fun to serve.
Here’s another example of ice balls in use. I freeze blueberry juice ice balls in this Minty Blueberry Lemon Mocktail.
Plus, they do melt slower than regular ice cubes. Meaning your cocktail stays more chilled and undiluted.
There are lots of different ice ball molds on the market. I’ve tried a few different ones. Some are more gimmicky than others
This ice sphere mold is the one that I currently use. I’ve have great success with. You can see it clearly in the picture below.
What kind of cranberry juice for this cocktail?
For this cranberry gin cocktail, I use this unsweetened pure cranberry juice. It’s a no sugar added, no sweetener, no preservatives, and no color added juice.
I linked to it so you can see it. But I bought it at my local market for a lower price.
Personally, I enjoyed the tartness of the cranberry juice in this cocktail. I think it would work well for Christmas morning at brunch.
Make it sweet
However, cranberry gin cocktail is equally delicious sweet. To do so, you can use a sweetened cranberry juice such as Ocean Spray.
Or if you like your cocktails very sweet, add in a shot of simple sugar syrup too.
What kind of gin to use?
This recipe uses a classic dry gin. Personally, I really like this Juniper Grove American Dry Gin. I discovered this brand because it’s made in the Sierra Nevadas, local to me.
This cocktail recipe works best with a gin that not too heavy in floral flavors.
